Congress Hotel Vienna Centrally located opposite the train station, the Congress hotel was built in 1900 as the Hotel Riva that housed the guests of Emperor Franz Joseph at the time. One of the guests was Franz Kafka who met Milena here in 1917 (Letters to Milena). The Congress hotel is located in downtown Vienna, opposite the Main Railway Station (Südbahnhof) and within 15 minutes walking distance to the old town of the City. The underground (metro) stop Südtiroler Platz is located next to the Hotel, within 4 minutes (2 stops) you will reach the Opera House and the Ringstrasse, within 5 minutes (3 stops) you will reach the famous St. Stephan´s Cathedral. The Messe Wien (Vienna Exhibition Centre) and the Austria center will be reached by public transport within 20 minutes. Hotel Congress is also comfortably accessible by car using the Autobahn exit "Landstrasser Hauptstrasse" on the "Gürtel" (Belt Parkway) direction "Südbahnhof" (South Railway Station). There is a public parking lot directly across the street (at the reception desk, you will get the reduced parking ticket).
